how does recovery work if someone forgets the passcode since everything is stored locally and there's no account to reset it through?

Seclo doesn't have recovery yet, the encryption key is derived from your PIN and never leaves your device, so if you forget it, the only path today is resetting the vault. We know that's a hard tradeoff, and it's high on the roadmap, the next update introduces optional recovery paths that keep the vault end-to-end encrypted with no server-side access from us. Coming soon.
