# Why I Built ScriptFrame
I kept looking for a good storyboarding tool for AI video production, but most tools seemed to focus primarily on generating images or turning a script directly into video.
What I really wanted was a proper **visual pre-production workspace**.
When you're creating a story, it's not enough to know what happens in each scene. You need to know **who is there, what they look like, where they are, what they're holding, and how their state changes throughout the story**.
A character might start a scene angry, become frightened, pick up a phone, leave a room, and then appear in a completely different location. A prop might be introduced in one scene and become important several scenes later. Those details matter when you're trying to maintain consistency across an entire video.
That's what led me to build **ScriptFrame**.
ScriptFrame is built around the idea that a storyboard should be more than a collection of pretty images. It should become the **visual blueprint for the entire production**.
You can develop your characters, locations, props, and scenes, then generate storyboard frames that preserve those relationships throughout the story.
But I wanted to take it one step further.
### From storyboard to reference video
If you're creating a reference video for actors or a production team, you still need a play script.
So ScriptFrame can turn the storyboard into something that can actually be **acted out and recorded**.
You can use the generated play script to have real people perform the scenes, record the result, and then use that footage as a reference for the final video.
Or, if you don't want to film anything yourself, you can go completely AI-generated.
The storyboard becomes the visual reference for the AI video generation process — giving the model a much clearer understanding of the characters, locations, props, compositions, and story progression.
So the workflow becomes:
**Idea → Script → Characters & Locations → Storyboard → Play Script → Reference Video → Final Video**
Or:
**Idea → Script → Storyboard → AI Video**
The goal isn't to replace filmmakers or creators.
It's to give them the **pre-production layer that AI video generation has been missing**.
I built ScriptFrame because I wanted a tool I could actually use when creating stories — one that treats AI video production more like filmmaking and less like generating a series of disconnected prompts.
