ScreenFold is a macOS menu bar app that turns your MacBook's lid into a gesture. Tilt the screen past a threshold and it automatically: - Mutes system audio - Pauses media playback - Dims or blurs the display Tilt back and everything restores instantly. Built on an undocumented lid angle sensor in newer MacBooks (all 14" and 16" MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air M2 or later). Uses a state machine with hysteresis so it doesn't flap near the threshold. Works with external monitors too.

I built ScreenFold after stumbling on a project that showed newer MacBooks have a hidden lid angle sensor. I thought: what if tilting your screen slightly could be a gesture?
The idea is simple β you're at work, at home, the coffee shop, and someone walks over, you just tilt your screen down a bit. ScreenFold catches that and mutes audio, pauses your music, and dims the screen. Tilt back and it all comes back.
It's free to download (pay-what-you-want, $0 minimum). No account needed, no telemetry, no subscription.
Would love to hear what you think. What other actions would you want triggered by a lid tilt?
