Hey Everyone 👋 I'm the maker of ScanQR. I built it because most QR scanners stop at "here's a link, good luck." You scan a code at a restaurant, on a parcel or on a payment sticker, and you still can't tell what it is or whether it's safe to open. So I set out to make a scanner that understands what it reads: 🔒 Link safety check. Before you open a link, ScanQR flags shortened URLs, look-alike domains, raw IP addresses and sites pretending to be well-known brands. It also checks Google's phishing and malware list. QR phishing ("quishing") is growing fast, and I wanted a warning shown before the tap, not after. 💳 Payment QRs. It reads VietQR, Pix, UPI, PromptPay, PayNow, DuitNow, QRIS, SEPA and Swiss QR-bill, then shows the bank, account and amount in plain text so you know what you're paying before you pay it. 🛒 Product barcodes. It shows where a barcode was registered and pulls product details from Open Food Facts, Open Beauty Facts and Open Library. 🎨 Creating codes. You can add your own colors and logo, and the app scans the result itself to make sure it still works. Few things are worse than printing 500 flyers with a QR code nobody can read. My approach changed along the way. I started out building a "scanner + generator," but the real work turned out to be everything after the scan: working out what the code is and what the person probably wants to do next. That's where most of this version's effort went. It's available in 23 languages, can scan from photos and keeps a searchable history. I'd love your feedback.
