Find the sound in your head — inside your own library

Sample actually listens to your audio files. It gives you new ways to search, filter, and explore your library — without relying on filenames, tags, or folder memory. Search in your own words, refine what you hear toward or away from specific qualities, find similar or complementary sounds, or blend two references to find the sound between them. If your sound library is big enough to slow you down, Sample turns it into an advantage. One-time purchase. Private by design. Works offline.

Hey Product Hunt 👋
I’m Joe, the maker of Sample.
I built Sample because my sound library got so big that sounds I knew I owned became hard to find. I’d remember the kind of sound I wanted, but finding it meant leaving the creative flow, digging through folders and packs, and auditioning file after file until the original idea started to fade.
I wanted my library to feel less like a folder browser and more like something I could search and explore based on how the audio actually sounds.
Sample listens to the audio itself and lets you search in your own words — without depending on filenames, tags, or remembering where something came from.
But the part I’m most excited about is what happens after the first search:
→ Find similar or complementary sounds
→ Refine what you hear toward or away from qualities like “more acoustic, less fuzzy”
→ Blend two references to explore the sounds between them
I put a lot of care into making Sample fast, fluid, and enjoyable to use because the whole point is to stay in the creative flow — not trade one kind of browsing for another. When you find the right sound, you can drag it straight into your DAW and keep going.
And the bigger your library gets, the more useful Sample becomes. More sounds stop feeling like clutter and start becoming more possibilities to work with.
Search and analysis run locally on your Mac, your audio stays there, and Sample is a one-time purchase — no subscription.
We’re launching at $129, before the price becomes $179 on October 1. Sample currently requires an Apple Silicon Mac.
I’d love to hear from anyone with a ridiculous sound library: what kind of sound always takes you way too long to find?
Thanks for checking out Sample 🙏
