Sajda is a native macOS menu bar app for Muslim prayer times. One click shows all five daily prayers with accurate times for your location, using official JAKIM data for Malaysia or calculated times globally. Features: • Adhan audio notifications at prayer times • Hijri calendar with Islamic key dates (Ramadan, Eid etc.) • Daily hadith & dua reminders • Prayer habit tracker • Auto-updates Built with Tauri (Rust + React). Lightweight, always accessible. Just download and pray on time.
As a Muslim living in Malaysia, I needed a simple way to track prayer times without constantly checking my phone. Existing solutions were either too bloated with features I didn't need, or required opening a full app every time. I wanted something that just sits quietly in my menu bar, always there when I need it, invisible when I don't. The idea of a lightweight, native macOS app that respects both my time and my system resources felt right.
Missing prayers because I lost track of time. I'd be deep in work, and suddenly realize I'd missed Asar by an hour. Phone apps with notifications get dismissed or muted. I needed something persistent but not intrusive, a glanceable prayer schedule that's always one click away, with gentle audio reminders (the actual Adhan) that feel natural rather than alarming. Plus, accurate times for Malaysian zones using official JAKIM data.
I started simple: just show prayer times in a menu bar popup. Then users (mostly myself) wanted more, Hijri date display, Islamic key date reminders, a prayer tracker to build consistency. The biggest evolution was adding the daily hadith/dua reminder system. What began as a prayer times utility became a small spiritual companion throughout the day. Technically, I moved from web-based location to native Swift Core Location for better accuracy, and spent considerable time ensuring it works smoothly on older Macs (back to macOS Catalina).
