Sahara is a read-only view of an Epic MyChart record that puts a plain-language explanation next to each medication, lab and condition. I built it after trying to help a parent read a discharge summary and a lab panel that were written for the next clinician, not for us. The explanations are not generated. They come from MedlinePlus, the US National Library of Medicine, looked up by the record's own codes. Only the code leaves the server for that lookup - never a name, a value or a date. English and Spanish, because MedlinePlus serves both natively. The link is a demo with an invented record. Ana Rivera does not exist. The parser and the education lookup are the real pipeline. The limits, all of them: Epic MyChart systems only. Read-only, nothing retained after display. No part of your record goes to an AI service. No HITRUST, SOC 2 or ISO. And it is not medical advice - it will say what furosemide is generally for, never what your value means. Two things I would genuinely like from this thread: is the education layer useful, or just reassuring? And does the trust model on /security read as believable?
