This is a simple benchmarking tool that measures the bandwidth from any host to Amazon S3, and tells you what's the optimal object size and thread count to achieve maximum bandwidth. I used this tool to measure S3's performance from every EC2 instance type in existence, and I put the data in an interactive spreadsheet that you can download from the GitHub readme.
