We built RPBuddy because we love to roleplay, and we were tired of fighting our tools to do it. We've spent hundreds of hours in LLM chatbots and RP platforms, building complex stories and characters. But every session hit the same walls: the AI forgets what happened two conversations ago. Characters don't know where they are. They invent people and places from nothing. They lose track of who knows what. And eventually, you stop being a player and start being a game master, correcting, reminding, babysitting the AI instead of enjoying the story. RPBuddy takes a different approach. Instead of asking an AI to do everything and watching it fail at most of it, we built location context, relationship awareness, time progression, memory, economy, and NPC schedules as game mechanics. The AI doesn't have to remember where your character is, because the game knows. It doesn't have to track who an NPC has met, because the system does. It doesn't have to guess what time of day it is or what's in your inventory. By handling the scaffolding, we let the AI focus on what it actually does best: being the character. Writing dialogue that feels alive. Reacting to a moment with genuine emotion. Surprising you with a choice you didn't see coming. That's the game we wanted to play. So we built it.
