ROUGH//CUT is a local-first, in-browser video editor that you and your AI agent can use together. ROUGH//CUT gives you a synchronized video preview, transcript, inspector, and multi-lane timeline. You can optionally enable cloud tanscription as well. You can edit manually, ask an agent, or move between the two at any point. Agent actions appear immediately in the editor, are recorded in the activity feed, and remain undoable. Best enjoyed via ChatGPT's in-app browser while in voice mode :))

ROUGH//CUT was going to be cloud focused editor that ran all its actions on Cloudflare powered infra. I realized that there was a better way to go about this and make it local-first. I found out about Mediabunny and then revamped ROUGH//CUT to perform most of its operations with it. This revamp was orchestrated by me but enabled by Astra. ROUGH//CUT is now much more powerful and private than it would have been

Most AI video editors available today take too much control away from the person making the video. They generate an edit behind the scenes, then give you a result that is difficult to inspect or change precisely. I have been editing videos for over five years, and that approach never felt right to me. There are plenty of repetitive editing tasks that should be automated, but the human behind the production should still have complete creative control. That's why I built ROUGH//CUT :)) It exposes 40 WebMCP tools so that you and your agent can edit videos together.
