Hey Product Hunt 👋 What inspired me to build this: I was frustrated with existing encryption tools that make you juggle a separate password for every container or archive — VeraCrypt needs one per volume, 7-Zip needs one per archive. It never felt like something I'd trust myself to manage consistently over time. The problem I wanted to solve: make strong, multi-layer encryption genuinely simple, without feeling like a locked box you can't work with. With RotorCrypt X-Files, you log in once with a single password, and everything inside your vault is encrypted and decrypted automatically from there — no second password to set or remember per file or folder. Three independent encryption layers are applied by default, and a fourth can be enabled with one click for even stronger protection. Each layer on its own is built on current cryptographic standards (AES-256-GCM, ChaCha20) — considered practically unbreakable by brute-force with today's technology. Inside the vault, files behave like normal files: double-click to open, edit, and close — it's automatically re-encrypted the moment you're done, no manual steps. Whole folders can be moved into the vault at once, not just individual files, and you can create your own folder structure inside it. Everything can be reorganized with drag & drop within the vault too. You can browse it as a list, tiles, or large icons — whichever fits how you work. How the process evolved: it started as a personal tool just for my own files. The feature I'm most proud of came later, once I realized encryption alone wasn't enough — I also needed a safe way to send a single file to one specific person. That became RCX files: the first time you contact someone, you confirm each other using a secret word, agreed once through a separate channel (e.g. in person or by phone). After that one-time confirmation, the connection stays trusted — no password or secret word is ever needed again for that contact. It's fully offline — no cloud, no server, no account.
