Hi everyone! I’m Brahmajyoti Nayak, and I’m so excited to finally share Roast.io with you all. The Inspiration: As a full-stack developer, I’ve spent countless hours building projects using the MERN stack. I often found myself stuck in a loop of building in isolation, never quite sure if the code was as solid as it could be or if the UX really made sense. I was tired of generic 'Looks good!' feedback—I wanted something honest, critical, and actually helpful. The Problem: Code reviews can be intimidating, and finding a community that gives truly constructive—and sometimes brutally honest—feedback is hard. I wanted a space where developers could put their ego aside, embrace the 'roast,' and actually improve their work. The Process: Building Roast.io was a journey of trying to automate that 'honest critique' process. My focus was on creating a platform where the friction of getting feedback disappears, leaving only the insights that help you ship better software. I’d love to hear your thoughts, roasts, or suggestions on how to make this even more useful for the developer community. Can’t wait to see what you think!

does the seo analysis actually crawl the live site or just look at the code from a repo link, and how long does a typical full roast take to generate?

How we analyze: Our engine crawls your live URL to assess the actual experience a recruiter or search engine sees in real-time.

Roast duration: While we target an 11-second turnaround, deeper analysis of complex, animation-heavy sites can occasionally take a little longer to ensure we capture all the 'emotional damage' points. We’re constantly optimizing the engine to keep that wait as short as possible!

Finally roasted my portfolio and the recruiter feedback actually hit home, especially the part about my projects section being a wall of text. Did not expect it to flag my Lighthouse score too, that was a nice touch.

finally a tool that actually tells me my github readme looks like a ransom note. the recruiter feedback was spot on and the seo tips pushed me to fix a bunch of missing alt tags
