This started as a tiny side project because I was frustrated with slow, clunky file search when working in large repos. I wanted something instant, simple, and built just for the way developers actually search through code.
After a lot of iterations, experiments, and late-night profiling sessions… Rifler is now ridiculously fast — searches complete in ~5ms with full-file preview, regex, file masks, and multiple scopes (project, module, directory).
My goal is to make it the fastest and smoothest search experience inside VS Code. No waiting, no context switching, no spawning processes — just type and see results immediately.
