Finding a trail is easy. Finding someone to hike it with is the hard part. Group chats go quiet, friends’ schedules never line up, and a lot of people would rather not hike alone, especially on longer or more remote trails.
Ridgemate matches people on the hike, not the profile:
Post a trail you want to hike. You can paste an AllTrails, Strava or Komoot link.
See who nearby wants to hike it too, or tap “I want to hike this” on someone else’s plan.
Once people are in, you get a group chat to plan the meetup and the carpool.
Women and non-binary hikers can choose to match only with each other. Messages are moderated, and anything can be reported.
It’s intentionally low-key. It sits on your phone and pings you when someone wants to hike your trail. It’s free to download, and there’s an optional Pro plan.
I built it solo: a native SwiftUI app on a Supabase backend.
It’s day one, so your area might be quiet for now. Post a hike anyway, because every hike posted makes the app more useful for the next person nearby.
Feedback that would help most:
Was it clear what to do after you signed up?
What would make you trust hiking with someone you met here?
What trail or area should I focus on growing first?
I’ll be here all day answering questions. Thanks for checking it out 🥾
