Reversi NEXT is Reversi that doesn't end at 8x8. When the board fills up, it expands outward and new corners appear, so the player who was losing gets a real shot at a comeback. It grows up to 12x12. 20 AI rivals, from gentle to brutal - Lv20 solves the endgame exactly. Charge a gauge and fire a special that flips an entire 5x5. Climb a global Game Center leaderboard. Free, offline, no account. Every feature and voice is included; the only purchase is removing ads.
Hi Product Hunt,
I'm a solo developer from Japan. I built Reversi NEXT because of one thing that always bothered me about Reversi: the moment the board is full, it's over - even if you were two moves away from turning the whole thing around.
So I made the board refuse to end. When all 64 squares fill up, it expands. New rows, new columns, and most importantly new corners. A game you were losing 40-24 suddenly has four fresh corners to fight over, and it keeps going up to 12x12.
A few things I put real work into:
- 20 AI rivals where the difficulty is actually real. Lv20 does an exact endgame solve, not a cosmetic "hard" label. I ran self-play matches to verify each level genuinely beats the one below it.
- Every rival talks, in their own voice, for free (voices generated with VOICEVOX).
- Fully offline. No account, no sign-up wall, no energy timer.
- One optional one-time purchase to remove ads. That's it - every character, voice and feature is free.
I built it in about two weeks. The hardest part wasn't the AI, it was making an expanding board feel deliberate instead of chaotic.
I'd genuinely like to hear what you think: does an expanding board make Reversi better, or is it sacrilege? Classic-Reversi purists especially welcome.

The expanding board idea is genuinely clever, turned a stalemate into a tense comeback on my second try. Lv20 is no joke though, it punished every greedy move I made.

The expanding board idea is genuinely clever, makes you rethink strategy mid-game. One thing I'd love to see is a "board freeze" option when the expansion happens, so the growing map doesn't surprise you mid-turn. Maybe a quick animation of the new corners before the next move locks in. Would also make the comebacks feel more earned.
