Hey there 👋 I am excited to launch Retention an AI-native language learning tool for intermediate to advanced language learners. In my early 20s, I spent several years studying and working throughout Asia. During my time abroad, I became passionate about learning languages and had many ideas for study tools. However, I lacked the technical skills to bring my ideas to fruition. Fast forward a few years, I became more focused on my career as a software engineer and spent less time abroad. Gradually, I noticed my language skills declining. With the advent of Gen AI and LLMs, many of my language study ideas became possible seemingly overnight. So, I decided to jump into the AI trend to build a tool to help me retain my language fluency and rekindle my passion for learning languages! As of now, Retention offers the following features: ✅ Language phrases spanning thousands of categories to encourage diverse vocabulary. ✅ English translations with AI evaluation to strengthen your language comprehension and expose you to new topics. ✅ Rapid proficiency alignment to ensure the phrases provided are not too far above or below your skill level. ✅ One-tap definition lookups so you can quickly learn about unfamiliar vocabulary. ✅ Dynamic vocab curation that saves words you don’t know and incorporates them into future study. I plan on using Retention as a platform to build and ship many more study features.
