Hey Product Hunt! When I was a kid, we moved houses. It was an old house. The oven had been taken away, and there were scribbles and writings left in the alcove. They were from the previous inhabitants, a family of four. Each had written their name. You could see their personality in their handwriting, in their messages to the future. A bit further in, there was more. Older writing. The ink had faded with time. Who were these people? My Dad grinned at me and Mum, holding out a pen. We wrote our messages. Before our new oven arrived and sealed it up for good. Twenty years on, I don't remember what we wrote. But I hope I get to find out one day. I didn't know it at the time but that was my first time capsule. I've loved the idea ever since. Resurf is a simple app that lets you write your own time capsule. Hope you enjoy! Frank

Hi, congrats on your launch! The idea is unique, is it a real paper mail, or emails?

Frank Lu

@seacat Thanks for the comment! Just emails for now, though real paper mail is not a bad idea!

Is the 'capsule' currently limited to text, or is there a plan to allow for image or media attachments to further preserve these memories?

Frank Lu

@sphnsx Yes, just text for the time being! I'm happy to add other attachment types based on the feedback.

This is a really thoughtful idea, and the story behind it lands emotionally.

I like that Resurf stays simple instead of trying to turn reflection into a habit tracker or productivity system. Writing something once and letting time do the work feels much more meaningful than daily prompts or streaks.

The delivery window choice is also a nice touch. Three months versus five years can completely change how the message feels when it comes back. Curious how people usually pick that moment. Is it more emotional milestones or just intuition?

Congrats on the launch. This feels personal in a good way, and that’s not easy to get right.

@sujal_thaker Thanks for checking out resurf and the thoughtful comment!

Honestly still early days. Most of people so far have picked dates that are closer to the 3M mark. Would be interesting to see how it plays out!
