Hi Product Hunt, I'm Ralph. I have spent 33 years in Gulf hospitality and worked on more than 300 restaurant projects. The pattern I saw most often: good operators signing a lease before anyone had done the arithmetic on rent, covers and payback.
So I built the calculator I wish every new restaurant investor opened before signing. Pick a city and a concept and it loads starting numbers, every one of them yours to change. It shows the monthly sales you need to break even, what that means in covers a day, the cushion against your forecast, and how many months the opening bill takes to come back.
Six checks run against published benchmarks. Rent is my own rule: 12 to 15% of sales is the norm, 20% the maximum. There is also the 15% sales-drop test investors run.
It is arithmetic on your inputs, not a verdict. Whether the inputs are true is what a feasibility study tests, and that is the work we do at Praxis Model.
