Hey Product Hunt! We’re back with our first major update to Repaint.
When we launched Repaint two months ago, we thought most people would use it to build new websites from scratch. What actually happened was different: hundreds of people used Repaint to rebuild sites they already had.
That made sense in hindsight. Most businesses already have a website, but many are stuck with something outdated, slow, hard to update, or trapped in a platform they hate. The hard part is getting a new site without manually rebuilding everything.
We also realized that redesigning a website is rarely all-or-nothing. Sometimes you want to preserve the original site. Sometimes you want a full redesign. Often you want something in between.
So today we’re launching a major upgrade to how Repaint rebuilds existing websites. The first version had a simple import-and-redesign flow. But now, Repaint gives you much more flexibility and control.
It can now:
Recreate your site in its original style
Use other websites as design inspiration
Create custom styles for your business
Preserve your brand colors, fonts, and assets
Migrate images, videos, GIFs, SVGs, background images, embeds, and more
Import large groups of pages like blogs, product pages, and team pages
We think this is a huge improvement, that makes Repaint much better at rebuilding existing sites.

Rebuilding existing sites with AI is a huge time saver. How does Repaint handle custom CSS or unique animations from the original site during the migration process?

@rivra_dev Complex animations are one of the few last things that still don't transfer easily. It can sometimes infer how animations work from from screenshots and scraped content. But quite often, it uses different curves.
Website migration without the manual rebuild is huge. Does it work with dynamic platforms like WordPress, Shopify or mainly static sites?

@maniraj_kyatham We get lots of people migrating WordPress sites. But its made for static market sites, not full ecommerce backends.

Hey! As a guy who built yet another AI landing page generator back in 2023, I would love to say that your idea is brilliant! There're lots of outdated websites that really need some complete redesign - why would you focus on newcomers if you can help an enormously large market of existing website owners?
You're doing the right thing, the market is great, the technology is here, congrats on your launch and all the best, men!
