I'm a massive Youtube fan, and I mainly use it for learning, music and entertainment. When Shorts were launched, I got immediately addicted. I spent countless hours simply watching them, even when most of them were neither relevant nor added any value. I also realised Shorts are primarily centred on entertainment to grab one's attention. So I tried personally to stay away from Shorts, but it didn't work. This was when I knew I had to make a tool for myself which could help me focus, spend quality time and get decent value from it.
