Browsers got boring. Chrome is back to being the default. I wanted a browser for myself: with a native macOS feel, beautiful Liquid Glass effects, power user features, and first-class AI integration working with any provider, or even Claude Code directly.

As I was looking for Arc alternatives back in November, not many browsers even had vertical tabs, not to mention all the other things I got used to. Instead of waiting for a miracle, I decided to be rational and make my own browser. I initially expected it to take a few weeks, but I quickly realized that I underestimated it significantly. Making a browser that works is one thing, making a browser that works well is a much more complicated endeavor.
Refrax is fully native: WebKit, SwiftUI. No shared code with any other browser, no dependencies. Launches fast, and shows RAM consumption per each tab.
A few of the things I'm proudest of:
Shelf β drag any file into the sidebar for instant access; drop it back into web pages or downloads
uBlock preinstalled, plus tracker stripping, AMP unwrapping, and copy-paste defense for hostile sites
Per-tab volume and playback control with Now Playing integration
Calendar sync with meeting reminders right in the browser
One-click video downloads via yt-dlp
Chrome and Firefox extension support
CLI control surface and DSL so Claude (or any coding agent) can drive the browser the same way you do
