At a global company I worked with, we had to reconcile payments every month. Every payment got checked against three sources, and we had to make sure clients were invoiced correctly. Doing it by hand took about two weeks. I built tooling that got it down to one day.
Recon Check is a small free version of that idea. You give it two files and it shows you the lines that don't match, with a reason for each one. It reads CSV, Excel, OFX, QFX, QIF, MT940 and CAMT.053 bank files, and text-based PDF statements. You can set how much difference in amount or date you'll accept.
It all runs in your browser, so your files never leave your computer. Scanned PDFs don't work yet.
