Hi Product Hunt! 👋 I built Recolor the Past because family photos are valuable in a way ordinary image files are not: they hold people, places and stories that may have no other record. I wanted restoration to be simple enough for a family archive, while being clear about what happens to the original. You can scan a printed photo with the mobile app or upload an existing file, organize it into a folder, adjust crop and perspective, and try colorization or restoration options before paying for a full-resolution result. The original remains separate from every restored version so you can compare them and avoid overwriting the source. Privacy shaped the architecture. Processing is hosted in the EU, photos are never used for AI training, downloads use short-lived links and temporary cloud files are automatically deleted after a defined retention period.
