Recollect looks through your Photo Library to find every trip you've been on, and lets you replay each activity on an interactive map. It finds the faces of everyone that was with you on a trip, and shows their pins moving around on the map so you can see where everyone went. Link it to Apple Music to see the Trip Soundtrack. Any songs you saved to your library during a trip will be included. Share a video from photos you took, with map transitions in between each activity.
How does it decide what counts as a "trip" — like does it auto-detect based on gaps in your photo location data or do you have to mark the start and end yourself?
@dilaranjjm It finds everything automatically. It uses the location metadata on photos to cluster them into activities, and cluster activities into trips away from what it detects as your home area.
Does it run entirely on device or does my photo library get uploaded somewhere to do the trip detection and face clustering?
@remlwon Everything is processed on-device, the photos never get uploaded anywhere. The locations on photos get sent straight from your device to Apple's MapKit to find names for activities and trips.
Does it work fully on-device or does your app need to send my photo library to a server to figure out the trips and the faces?

The map transitions between photos are a really nice touch, makes old trips feel like a little movie. Surprised how well it picked up the faces from random group shots without me tagging anyone.
@selmagentrj4jv Thanks! I'm really happy with how the face detection turned out. I've always been frustrated with the Photos app's faces features.
The map replay feature is really clever, watching where everyone went during a trip brings back memories in a way scrolling through photos never did. Loved seeing the trip soundtrack idea too.

The map transitions stitched between activities in the share video are such a thoughtful touch. Makes a simple photo dump feel like a real recap.
