I built Reckonly after seeing how much time small business owners and freelancers spend manually entering receipt data into accounting systems. Most receipt-scanning tools are either too generic or not designed for Australian GST workflows. I wanted something simple: take a photo of a receipt, let AI extract the details, review the result, and send it straight to Zoho Books. Building Reckonly involved a lot of iteration around OCR accuracy, GST handling, and creating a workflow that accountants and business owners could trust. The goal wasn't just receipt scanning—it was reducing bookkeeping friction so businesses can spend more time on their work and less time on administration.
