Receipts is the GitHub for humanity’s story—a living, collaborative record of what happens in the world. Stories evolve as new facts emerge, sources are attached to the record, and every update is preserved. Journalists, eyewitnesses, experts, and everyday people can contribute what they saw and help surface stories that might otherwise be missed. The world is always writing its story. Receipts is where we keep it.

What is your plan to pull people to use this instead of reddit, or twitter, or other alternatives?
@mjohnson42 I don’t think we win by asking people to stop using Reddit or Twitter. Those platforms are great for conversation and real-time reaction. Receipts is meant to solve a different problem: turning scattered posts, eyewitness accounts, sources, documents, and updates into one living record of an event.
The initial plan is to focus on people who already care deeply about documenting what is happening—independent journalists, local reporters, eyewitnesses, researchers, and highly engaged communities. We want to give them better tools, clearer attribution, lasting credibility, and a place where their work does not disappear into a feed.
Distribution can still happen through Reddit, X, TikTok, and other platforms. Receipts becomes the permanent home for the story, while those networks help it travel.
Over time, the goal is for people to come to Receipts not just to see what everyone is saying, but to understand what actually happened, how the story changed, and who contributed to the record.
The idea of attaching sources directly to evolving stories is genuinely useful, and I like how it feels more like a shared archive than a feed.
