RealSub started from a simple frustration: so many videos and live streams we wanted to watch had no subtitles at all, especially Japanese streams, raw anime, lectures and talks. Players and browsers each had their own partial fix, and none of them worked everywhere.

So RealSub works at the level of your PC's sound instead of a single player:

• Live subtitles for anything your PC plays: videos, live streams, games, lectures, podcasts

• Caption the whole system, or pick just one app (a browser, a video player) so other sounds stay out

• Speech is recognized on your own machine, so the audio never leaves your PC

• Japanese, English and Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), or Auto

• A floating subtitle bar on top of any app: a dark bar, or outlined text right on the picture

• Show the original, the translation, or both, and scroll back through recent subtitles any time

The base app is free and includes complete live transcription with no usage limit. The Full Version DLC adds translation between Japanese, English and Chinese (shown together with the original line), session history, and SRT / TXT / MP3 export. Your first 7 days include every feature.

It's on Steam for Windows today, and a macOS (Apple Silicon) version is coming soon.
