Reality Prep is an Apple-first spatial asset workflow for developers. Prep Pro batch-prepares, validates and optimizes assets on macOS. Prep Preview verifies the resulting USDZ on Vision Pro and returns device evidence to the Mac.
I initially set out to develop a video game for macOS and then quickly discovered that not all 3D assets are created equal.
Further down the rabbit hole I noticed that properly crafted Apple ready/compatible USDZ assets were hard to come by, even when exported by popular DCC tools.
Upon digging deeper, I felt the VR/spatial/immersive space calling me.
I built Reality Prep because spatial developers needed a clearer Mac → Vision Pro asset workflow.
One professional developer workflow delivered through two purpose-built Apple apps; Reality Prep Pro for Mac + Reality Prep Preview for Vision Pro.
You batch-prepare and validate your 3D assets on Mac using Reality Prep Pro.
Import your FBX, GLB, glTF, OBJ and USDZ assets
Perform safe USDZ texture-size reduction
Animation-safe handling for existing animated and rigged USDZ assets
USDZ preparation and package-safety checks.
Validate assets against spatial target profiles, with Apple Vision Pro as the primary target.
Generate detailed batch reports and JSON evidence
Then proceed to open your exported spatial USDZ in Reality Prep Preview on Vision Pro, verify the asset there, export validation evidence and bring that evidence back into Reality Prep Pro.
Please tell me what works, what breaks and what feels confusing or unnecessary.
