Hey Product Hunt community
I'm launching RealBonds in about 2 days and wanted to share the story and get some early feedback before it goes live.
The idea came from a personal frustration: while traveling, I found it surprisingly hard to meet people in a new city. Social media was supposed to help with exactly this, but in practice it's made people, especially women, close themselves off, since getting DMs from strangers online feels more like unwanted attention than genuine connection. I wanted to build something that brings social media back to its original purpose: actually helping people socialize, not avoid it.
RealBonds is a live social map where you can:
As someone who'd actually use this, one feature I'd love to see is a "mutual friends nearby" overlay on the map. Showing which of my friends are within a certain radius, or even which friends are at the same venue right now, would make the constellation view way more actionable. Right now I can see friends as dots but not their proximity to each other or to me in real time. That context would push this from cool concept to genuinely useful.
The constellation view for friends instead of a flat list is such a thoughtful touch, makes the map feel alive instead of utilitarian. Love that reviews require verified on-site visits too, that alone sets it apart from the usual check-in theater.
the verified on-site visits thing is such a clean move, basically forces honesty into the whole review system. love that the constellation view isn't just decoration, it actually changes how you read who's around you.
