You remember the video, but not the filename or drive. REAL turns videos scattered across your Mac, external drives, and supported network storage into one visual, searchable library. Browse by thumbnail, search across volumes, add tags and memos, detect duplicates, and access your library over your local network. Your videos stay on storage you control. No cloud upload. No subscription.

Hi Product Hunt,
I’m the independent developer behind REAL.
I built REAL because my videos had become scattered across my Mac and several external drives. I often remembered exactly what a video looked like, but could not remember which drive it was on—or what the camera-generated filename was.
REAL turns folders selected by the user into one visual video library. You can browse by thumbnail, search across drives, add tags and memos, create playlists, and identify duplicate videos.
The most important design decision was to keep everything local. REAL does not require you to upload your personal video library to a cloud service. Your videos remain on storage you control.
REAL is currently available for macOS, with a free edition for libraries of up to 100 videos and a one-time-purchase PRO edition.
I would especially appreciate feedback on:
• Whether the first-run setup is clear
• How well the multi-drive workflow makes sense
• Which video formats or features matter most to you
Thank you for taking a look at REAL.
Quiet software. Clear purpose.

love that the thumbnail-first browsing keeps everything local, the fact you can search across volumes without anything hitting the cloud is honestly a rare bit of restraint in this space
