Ready Player One

if you were born in the 70s and grew up a nerd, you'll be swearing up and down that this book was written specifically about and for you :)

It's funny because that tagline is descriptive, but does very little justice to the book itself. The plot revolves around the struggle of a kid with low means that manages to earn a fortune and defeat a corporate oligarch whilst in an expansive virtual reality world that features heavy influences from the 80s. I really love simple writing with great action and this delivers on both with the added bonus of 80s pop-culture (games, comics, movies, and music).

Really excellent book. And was a great conversation starter w my sons about what tech really was like in the 80s.

Just started reading this book and Im already hooked. Hear Spielberg is on to do the movie! Its funny because he is referenced in the book by one of its many 80s references!

Highly recommend the audio book as read by @wilwheaton! I listened to this whenever I took the dog for a walk. Needless to say, the dog got many walks for a few weeks until I finished.

I keep hearing about this book. Time to cave in.
