Choose me as your go-to writing app. Why? Because mediocrity can go f*ck itself. I'm no ordinary muse. I'm the mischievous trickster that'll push you to write when you'd rather be scrolling through cat videos.

Hey Product Hunt!
As a publisher and writer, I got tired of writing tools that were either too complex (hello feature bloat) or too passive about my procrastination. So I built Raven – a slightly sadistic writing app that actually keeps me writing.
What makes it different? Well, set a goal, miss it, and watch your precious words vanish into the void. Brutal? Maybe. Effective? Absolutely. No more "I'll edit this later" or "just one more settings tweak." It's write or lose, friend.
Plus, it's clean and minimalist because let's be honest, if you're looking at fancy formatting options, you're not actually writing.
Just you, your words, and a slightly menacing corvid watching your progress.
Built this initially for myself (as founder of Imagnary House, a children's book publishing house, I loved the freedom of creating something with a darker tone). Figured other writers might appreciate some tough love too. Would love to hear what you think!
P.S. Yes, the dark theme is called "Nevermore" (if you know, you know). I regret nothing.
@masump Appreciate it! Would love to know what you think of the execution of the concept, if you find yourself diving into it.

@bradharrs Great one if you're a huge procrastinator and can't bother writing your novel if all you do all day is also.... write 😂 (although, for a different audience - B2B).
The concept's super cool. What's the target audience? What would stop me from simply setting my own timer?
I'd also love to see an LP where you go through all the use cases / features / etc. Would make it so much easier to convert!
But congrats on the launch! Looking forward to many more launches in the future ❤️

@mia_k1 Appreciate the feedback! Target audience is really novelists, and primarily of science-fiction and fantasy (the NaNoWriMo crowd as a foundation). But writers of any type should find it really helpful.
Totally understand the question of setting your own timer - but there's no hard consequence there. It's self managed, and you can stop the timer at any point without any consequences. Raven doesn't let you stop the timer you set, and if you do manage to exit before it's finished... you lose your work from that session. It's meet the goal, or don't write.

@bradharrs oh wow, but then what happens if for some reason I get interrupted by something (like my connection going down) and the timer has 2s left and I lose everything?

@bradharrs Cool concept, branding is nice too! Not much of a writer myself but I'll be sharing this with my novelist friends for sure. Does it give insights into things like word written per hour, writing streak etc?
