Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I’m an Electrical Engineer and the solo developer behind RateDeed.
The idea for this platform started with a personal nightmare: I was remodeling my kitchen and got burned by the traditional, off-the-record payment process.
When I started digging into the industry, I realized I wasn't alone. I heard countless horror stories from both sides. Homeowners were losing massive upfront cash deposits to disappearing contractors, and hard-working contractors were having to hunt down unresponsive homeowners just to get paid for their labor.
It blew my mind that in a $330 billion industry, transactions still happen with zero financial safety nets.
I built RateDeed end-to-end to fix this broken relationship. Rather than trust fallouts and risky payment cycles, we provide complete project visibility through an integrated, two-way trust mechanism:
🛡️ Flexible Escrow (Powered by Stripe): Funds are safely locked upfront so contractors know payment is guaranteed.
Projects under $5k: Payment is held in a single escrow and released upon full completion.
Projects over $5k: Step-by-step milestone escrow payments controlled by the homeowner—complete with progress picture uploads for photo-verified work before funds unlock.
Adaptive Scope Changes: Either party can request change orders that instantly adjust the escrow balance, keeping workflow smooth and transparent when unexpected project needs pop up.
Dispute Protection: Built-in evidence resolution mechanism before any escrow release.
🔍 200k+ Pre-Indexed Local Pros: Search by zip code and immediately access over 200,000 local contractors. Homeowners can instantly get quotes, and Pros can claim their free listing in 60 seconds to lock down their Stripe payout method.
Visual Portfolio Showcase: Pros can upload project photos directly to their public profile to showcase past craftsmanship to prospective homeowners.
100% Authentic Verified Reviews: Reviews can ONLY be submitted by homeowners who have actually completed and paid for a project with that contractor in-platform—eliminating fake reviews and competitor sabotage.
Zero Pay-Per-Lead Fees: 100% free for contractors. Unlike legacy directories, pros never pay to be discovered.
Free Pro Business Tools: Includes built-in analytics, contract PDF generation, and CSV exports to track revenue. Aswell as our built in analytics dashboard
💬 Real-Time Quotes & Chat: Share project pictures, see real-time updates, and receive customized quotes directly in-platform.
Peace of mind for homeowners + fair and guaranteed payments for a contractor’s labor is what RateDeed achieves.
🚀 RateDeed is LIVE TODAY at RateDeed.com & natively on the iOS App Store!
If you have an upcoming home repair, renovation, or remodeling project, give RateDeed a spin—or mention it to your contractor on your next job to ensure both sides are protected.
P.S. Since I built this solo, I’m actively looking for a Growth/Marketing Co-Founder to help scale RateDeed now that the product is live. If the vision resonates with you, drop a comment or DM me!
Also if you like to discuss any features you think should be added be free to do so!
Oh forgot to mention we have zero fees for contractors to join Enjoy!
Would love to see a project timeline feature where homeowners can track each milestone and see photos of progress right in the app. It would make coordination with contractors so much smoother and give peace of mind between site visits.
@sdkmaster Thanks Knox! We actually built exactly this. Check out the screenshot.
@sdkmaster if you have any more features you would like to see please don't hesitate!
the escrow angle is genuinely smart, that's usually the part where these contractor platforms fall apart and you just hope for the best honestly
@sabriyepuvg Thanks ! "Hope for the best" was exactly my experience during my kitchen remodel it’s a terrible feeling when thousands are on the line.
@sabriyepuvg Also if you have any suggestions please don't hesitate
