RadioShake is a free Android + Wear OS app for live internet radio and podcasts - no account, no tracking. 45,000+ stations from the open radio-browser.info directory, on-device song recognition as you listen, and full Android Auto support: browse, podcasts, offline downloads and one-tap resume from the car.
No account needed is honestly such a breath of fresh air, and the on-device song recognition worked surprisingly well on a few tracks I tried
@zlemnasuhb87sr Thank you 🙏 The no-account thing was actually the whole reason I started building it. I just wanted to listen to a station without handing over an email first. Glad the song ID held up too; it runs entirely on-device so it's a fun one to test on tricky tracks (live vocals and heavy remixes are where it earns its keep). If you ever hit a song it can't identify, I'd genuinely love to know what it was.
The song recognition while listening is genuinely handy, and being able to hop straight into podcasts and downloads through Android Auto makes my commute way smoother. No signup nonsense either, which is a nice change.
@hanmdalbaveyd Really appreciate this. Android Auto was the piece I was most nervous about, so hearing it makes the commute smoother means a lot. The podcasts + downloads flow through Auto took a while to get right (Google's Auto guidelines are... a journey 😅). If anything ever feels clunky while you're driving, please shout, that's exactly the kind of feedback I can't get from an emulator.
honestly this looks great, the no-account thing is a huge plus. one thing though - if you could add a sleep timer that actually fades the audio out gradually instead of just cutting it, that would be perfect for falling asleep to talk shows. would use it every night.
@berila4zx Thank you, and you're spot on. There is actually a fade in there already, but after reading your comment I tested it myself and yeah, it really does just feel like a hard cut. So it's clearly not doing its job. I've filed a fix: a proper gradual fade plus a longer wind-down you can configure, which should be perfect for the talk shows at bedtime thing. Will be in the next release. Thanks for flagging it 🙏
