I created Qwhiz after a night in the pub with colleagues, playing one of the card based trivia games. Specifically, it was questions on music - but we soon ran out of cards... That got me thinking, if i could create a platform to quickly host and run a quiz room, where people can join (without sign up) and answer multiple choice questions, get points and climb a leaderboard. The questions don't have to be synchronous and each user can answer in their own time, on their own device. So that's what i did - and it was great fun to build and play with. This still exists in the application and has fun features like Write your own questions, AI generated questions based on a topic, or a good old fashioned API query to get questions in specific categories. But it wasn't long before I realised that as a product, it was missing a daily engagement edge. That's when I added the Daily Qwhiz. A simple format; 5 questions every day from random categories. Everyone gets the same questions and you can climb the Daily and Weekly leaderboards, competing against your friends and strangers globally. It's been a really fun project, touching on automation, AI, animation, engagement, statistics and all the fun things. I've got a tonne more ideas and features i plan to work on in the coming months.
