QuietMode started from listening, not from an idea pitch.
While researching communication tools, I spoke with autistic adults and parents and heard the same pattern again and again: many people already use note-taking apps, templates, or even AI tools to help them communicate during moments of overload, shutdown, or stress. One conversation in particular, with a close friend in Ireland, really stuck with me. She explained how AI helps her say things she knows but can’t always get out when speaking becomes difficult.
That was the spark.
Not “how do I build an app,” but “how do I reduce pressure in those moments?”
QuietMode is an early-stage web app exploring low-friction, AAC-style communication for people who can read and understand text but may be unreliable speakers at times. The focus is calm design, minimal stimulation, and user control: no forced onboarding, no noise, no assumptions.
This launch isn’t about growth or monetisation. It’s about learning. I’m here to listen, understand where this helps, where it doesn’t, and whether it should exist at all.
If you’re an AAC user, an autistic adult, a parent, an educator, or a professional, I’d truly value your thoughts. And if this resonates, sharing it with someone who might benefit would mean a lot.
