Hey Product Hunt!
I'm Kenan, the maker of Punch King.
You know those arcade punch machines at fairs? You hit the bag, the lights climb, and a number tells you how hard you punch. I always loved them, so I built one into the iPhone.
How it works: hold your phone tight, throw a punch in the air, and Core Motion reads your peak G-force at 100 Hz. A calibrated curve turns it into a score from 0 to 999, with neon lights, haptics and a slot-machine style reveal, just like the real coin-op.
Some fun details:
- 7 tiers, from CHICKEN to LEGEND. Reaching LEGEND takes near superhuman force, on purpose. Real machines are hard too.
- A global leaderboard with arcade-style nicknames, so you can fight for the top spot worldwide.
- A shareable score card to challenge your friends.
- Filters that detect and reject shaking, so you actually have to punch.
It's free to try. I'd love to hear your best score, and any feedback on the feel of the punch detection. Have fun, and try not to throw your phone!
Report
Does it actually measure the punch force accurately or mostly just the speed/snap of the motion since phone accelerometers can be pretty inconsistent?
Report
Curious how consistent the accelerometer readings actually are. Does it matter whether I hold the phone loose vs grip tight, or do you calibrate for different grip styles so the score stays fair?
Report
Tried a few swings and the haptic punch on impact actually fooled my hand for a second, felt way more satisfying than I expected. The CHICKEN to LEGEND tiers are a nice touch, though I am clearly stuck in the lower ranks.

The tier names from CHICKEN to LEGEND are a really clever touch, perfect mix of humor and motivation. Love that it keeps the arcade vibe without feeling gimmicky.
