What do you think? …

Kyrylo Silin
Hey, Do you have any plans to incorporate educational resources or workshops to help photographers improve their skills?
Justin Zeng
@kyrylosilin Hi Kyrylo, we do have plans to integrate and educational experience into our product on the horizon! We think tighly integrating education into photo viewing and sharing experiences has great potential. From what we've seen many of our community members are glad to share their knowledge, and more wish to receive knowledge and feedback. We want to provide the tools to facilitate this exchange.

This sounds like an incredible opportunity! Collaborating with 500px is a game changer for showcasing talent. I love the idea of not just competing for prizes, but also gaining recognition within a community that appreciates creativity. Can't wait to see the submissions and connect with fellow makers! Keep it up!

@elke_qin Thanks for your kind words Elke!

Saw this new photography thing while scrolling through ads, kinda feels like yet another effort to make us compete instead of just enjoy our hobby, prizes and recognition are fine but does it really make our art better, just my two cents 👎

@asiaexpertvp Hi Evan, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Many other have had similar feedback. For us, competition is the starting point. We intend on implementing social and educational features (such as the ability to create, join, and engage in interest groups, and ability to give and request feedback) to provide photographers with a more holistic experience and improve the long term health of our community.

I get it, you're trying to create a space for photographers to shine and win prizes but what if the prizes aren't enticing enough won't that affect participation plus how do you ensure that the judging is fair just worried that the community might lose interest over time maybe consider adding more diverse rewards or even feedback sessions from pros
jeremy
Found this while browsing photography forums, looks interesting but feels a bit like a popularity contest where real talents could get overshadowed by those who are already popular, are there any plans to add features that help newbies learn and grow their skills instead of just competing for prizes
Justin Zeng
@craftydev92 Hi Jeremy, thanks for your thoughts and your questions! Our public voting system is a blind voting system where users vote without seeing who they are voting for, contest integrity will always be a priority. We've also recently launched a Skill Rank system, and Skill Rank Quests. Our community members will now be able to compete in contests at their photography level, and climb the ranks while improving their skills until they compete with the pros. Longer term we plan to add tools for our community members to request and receive feedback from other community members. As well as interest groups where community members can communicate, learn, and grow together.
