It started with my Mac (Leandro here) running out of space. Most of it wasn't my files: Xcode caches, Docker images, old Node versions, node_modules in forgotten projects. The cleaners we tried didn't look there, so we built one that does, and made it work for anyone with a Mac.
What we focused on:
ā¢ Fast: a full scan in about 4 seconds in our test, ~6Ć faster than the leading Mac cleaner.
ā¢ Light: 8,6 MB, no background processes, ~0.1% CPU when idle.
ā¢ Safe: every item is labeled safe / review / protected, and everything you clean waits 48 hours so you can restore it.
ā¢ Private: no account, no telemetry.
For developers: a projects view that shows what you haven't touched in months, and a dependency checker that flags known vulnerabilities in your lockfiles.

Pruneo 1.1 is out, and it's the biggest update so far:
Adapts to your Mac: it looks at the apps and projects you actually use and builds its sections on its own. No more profiles.
AI agent: for large folders Pruneo doesn't know yet, it can ask Apple Intelligence, Ollama, Claude Code, Codex or Gemini CLI. It only sends folder names and sizes.
Help out (optional): what agents identify on several Macs gets recognized automatically on every Mac.
MCP server: run `pruneo mcp` and your agent can scan the disk and clean what's safe, always to quarantine.
Music projects: Ableton Live, Logic Pro and FL Studio.
Faster: smart scan from 14 s to 10 s, large files almost 4Ć faster.
Safer cleanup: files a program has open ask first, nothing that changed since the scan is touched, iCloud files that aren't downloaded are never moved.
Quarantine you can set from 24 hours to 30 days.

We got tired of paying a yearly subscription just to clear caches, so we built the cleaner we wanted: free for real. No account, no Pro version, no ads.
The part I care about most is safety. Pruneo sorts everything into Safe, Review and Never touched (SSH keys, .env files, git projects, Photos...). And everything you clean goes to Quarantine first, so you can bring it back if you change your mind.
