PrivateTranscribe is local-first voice dictation for Windows. Press a hotkey, speak, and the text lands in your app. Whisper runs locally by default so your audio stays on your PC. Cloud transcription is optional. Starter is free with 1,000 words/day, all Whisper models, CUDA acceleration, hotkeys, auto-paste, and local history. Pro is a one-time purchase that removes the word cap. Unfinished beta workflows require separate tester approval. Buying Pro does not grant beta access.

I built PrivateTranscribe because I dictate a lot - AI prompts, emails, notes, random thoughts - and I wanted a Windows app where local transcription is the default.
Most dictation tools make the cloud path feel like the only path. Here you can press a hotkey, speak, and paste the text into whatever app you're already using while running Whisper locally on your own PC. If you want cloud transcription, you can choose it, but it is not required.
Starter is free with 1,000 words per day, all Whisper models, CUDA acceleration if your PC supports it, global hotkeys, auto-paste, and local history.
Pro removes the word cap. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Workflow features are still being built and remain available only to approved testers until stable. Buying Pro does not grant beta tester access.
It is still early, but already useful if you write a lot or use AI tools every day.
