The actual printing of stuff isn't the effort/time consuming part. The printer does its job in an hour. Getting to a file it can print is where the evening goes... hunting Thingiverse for something close enough, tweaking someone else's model, or spending hours in CAD for something to keep you moving in a project. Printytron exists to shorten that distance, for anyone, at any skill level. If you own a printer and don't want to spend an evening in Fusion 360 or OnShape or whatever for a tripod adapter for some obscure old camera - describe it, check the preview, download the STL, get back to the actual project. You can be specific with Printy too, she's capable of handling specific dimensions and measurements. If you don't own a printer at all but you know someone who does, you can make the file yourself and send them a link, which turns "can you design and print me a thing" into "can you print this." Which is a different ask entirely! The other big reason this exists: I wanted to build a product with no commercial pressure on it at all. No pricing page, no growth targets, no roadmap items I personally didn't choose. Just my love for the craft of making products which people like using. It's free and I don't have any plans to change that. If the bill I'm personally funding becomes unmanageable, I'll try to work out a way which doesn't involve charging users, but that'd be a good problem to have and I have ideas if we get to it. If you try it, the thing I most want to know is where did you feel points of friction? Where did you think to yourself "Oh I wish it could do XYZ...". And obviously, please report bugs! This is my first Product Hunt launch, so I expect it'll have some rough edges.

Love the chat-based refinement idea, that feels magical. One thing I'd love to see is a built-in material and print time estimate alongside the download, so I know roughly how much filament and time a model needs before committing. Even a rough range would help when choosing what to queue up on my Prusa.

Described a quick shelf bracket idea and got a clean printable STL in under a minute, no fiddling with settings. Chatting to tweak the dimensions felt surprisingly natural for an AI tool.

This is it, launch day is coming.
As this is Printytron's first launch, this will be a real battle test - I'm anticipating finding some rough spots, and it's critical to me that I address them.
