Hi Product Hunt! I built PostChars for a very simple problem: character counters usually treat every platform the same way, but publishing doesn't.
An X post with a URL, an emoji and Chinese text can have a very different weighted length from the visible character count. Google Ads has a completely different set of headline and description rules. I wanted a fast, browser-only set of tools that handles these real writing tasks instead of just showing a generic character number.
What you can try today:
X/Twitter weighted text length with URL and emoji breakdown, plus an illustrative post preview.
A Google Ads responsive search ad workspace with up to 15 headlines, 4 descriptions and 2 display paths, each checked separately.
Word counting, case conversion, line-break cleanup and social-platform length reference tools.
It's free, requires no account and processes draft text locally in the browser. Ads are optional and controlled through privacy choices.
I'd love practical feedback: which platform-specific writing check would save you the most time?
