Every time an AI hands you amd orhtml file, you need somewhere to open it. Porthole is that app. Lightweight viewer + editor for Markdown and HTML — GitHub-flavored rendering, syntax highlighting, live split-view preview. Set it as your default and AI-generated files route there automatically. Free, open source. macOS + Windows. Note: macOS will show a security prompt on first launch — right-click and select Open.

Hey PH - I'm Kuran, I built this. It started as a personal project because every AI tool I use generates markdown or HTML files and there was no great default app to open them on macOS or Windows. Happy to answer questions and also very open to feedback on what's missing — file history, export to PDF, and a URI scheme handler (porthole://) are already on the roadmap.
