Hi Product Hunt! I’m the solo maker behind PonySubs. I built PonySubs because I kept running into videos with missing subtitles, inaccurate captions, or translations that required switching between several different tools. That made watching foreign-language videos, online courses, and live content unnecessarily difficult. PonySubs brings the whole experience directly into the browser. It can generate live subtitles from video audio, translate them in real time, display dual-language subtitles, read subtitles aloud, and translate full webpages. It also works with videos that do not have built-in captions. The project started as a simple floating subtitle overlay, but feedback from early users gradually turned it into a broader accessibility and language-learning tool. My main focus has been keeping it lightweight, easy to use, and useful across different websites instead of limiting it to one video platform. People are now using PonySubs for online courses, live streams, news, foreign-language videos, anime, and everyday web browsing.
