Podalia is a social voice platform where people answer daily questions by recording short voice responses. The twist: you can listen to anyone’s thoughts in your own language. We use speech-to-text, translation and AI voice synthesis to make spoken reflections understandable across cultures. You speak your own language, and others hear it in theirs. I’m one of the founders of Podalia. Podalia is a voice-first social app where people answer one daily question using their own voice (max 45 seconds) and listen to others around the world. But here’s the twist: You can speak in your own language and others will hear your thoughts in theirs. Podalia records your voice, transcribes it, translates it if needed, and plays it back so language barriers disappear. You can follow people, like and comment on their daily answers, and discover what people are thinking and feeling in different cultures without needing to understand the language they speak. It’s not really social media, a podcast platform or a voice diary. We’re honestly still figuring out what it becomes 🙂 We built Podalia in Finland with a small non-technical team by breaking problems down, testing constantly, and working closely with AI tools to iterate faster than we ever thought possible. One of us is a former public health nurse with no previous software development experience who ended up taking the lead in building most of the product through prompting, testing, fixing and repeating. We didn’t become developers. We became very good at asking the right questions. Podalia currently works in 8 languages and we can add new ones in days. Now we’re at the stage where we want to learn: Do people actually want to speak their thoughts out loud and listen to others without language barriers?
