Pocket Shuffle Chess

A new way to play and create with chess

You’ve played chess before. You haven’t played this. We wanted to make chess more unpredictable. So we built Pocket Shuffle Chess, a 5×6 chess variant where the starting pieces are shuffled, meaning there are no openings to memorize. Pocket Shuffle Chess started with a fairly simple question: Can we make chess faster, less dependent on memorised openings, and different enough that even experienced players have to think from move one? A format people recognise as chess, but play differently.
