Hey Product Hunt 👋
I'm Nabil. Plumby is a Mac app that shows you where your space and memory are going, in plain language, and helps you clean it up safely. It's built for people who aren't technical, but it started as a developer tool.
A while back my Mac kept slowing to a crawl and I couldn't work out why.
I run a lot of AI agents in the terminal. After some digging, I found the culprit: agents often leave behind orphan processes that sit there eating memory long after they're done. So I built a tiny menu bar tool to find and kill them.
Then I kept adding things. Memory, disk, network, dev caches. It turned into a proper developer utility.
Then I gave it to my first test users: my Mum and my sister, who's doing her Master's. Neither had any idea where their storage had gone, what was safe to delete, or why their Mac felt slower than last year. Most Macs ship with 256 or 512 GB of storage, and that fills up faster than anyone expects.
That's when I realised the bigger problem wasn't mine, it was theirs. So I rebuilt Plumby for them: no jargon, no scary warnings, just what's going on and a button to fix it.
What it does:
- Shows where your space is going and what's safe to remove
- Frees up memory and cleans up stuck or runaway processes
- Keeps your Mac healthy over time, not just after a one-off cleanup
- Still has the developer tools I originally built it for
Two ways to pay: $79 once and you get every version I ever ship, or $29 a year if you'd rather start smaller. If you cancel the yearly plan, the app keeps working; only the updates stop. For launch day, Product Hunt folks get 25% off with code PH25.
I'd love to hear what you think, especially if you've ever stared at "System Data: 80 GB" and wondered what on earth it is.
What would you want Plumby to handle next?
Plumby is a beautiful app. Some really nice finishing touches. I use it to free space when things get dire. It scans my HD and tells me all the junk that I don’t need and won’t miss.
@withnabz Really dig the UI touches. Do you have some kind of claude skill you used? Did you draw it on paper before you built it? I guess more broadly what’s the process?
