I'm honoured to have Play On Words listed on Product Hunt. We have just launched this game and we'd love everyones feedback. This is the first game we've created so any suggestions would be very welcome.
We built this game primarily as a multiplayer game for the new Apple TV (4th generation). Given the limitation of 2 bluetooth controllers being connected at a time we decided to make an game where you use your phone as a controller. The game was quite fun so we decided to add a single player mode too ... and then we added leaderboards, badges, social sharing with custom images, Game Center integration ... and it grew from there.
With the multiplayer mode, we decided to use a QR code to allow players to join a game. We found that it was way easier for people to simply scan a QR code on the screen than worry about network settings and wether bluetooth is turned on and the like. It also affords us the opportunity to have Android devices as controllers too. (An Android version is coming soon).
With the new Apple TV's only just having been released there are obvioulsy not too many out there so our market is limited. Therefore, the single player mode is really important to us. We decided to make the game free to encourage people to download it. There are ads in it, but there is an option to disable the ads through an in-app purchase.
Our friends and family that have helped us test this seem to love it. We are super excited about the app and hope you are too. I'd love to hear what you think.
