PlateDiary is a food-memory app for people who photograph what they eat but rarely look back. Snap one photo of the table and on-device ML cuts every dish and drink into its own save in about a second. Saves group into moments with the place, time, and people you were with. No calorie counting, no account, no feed—just a private, playful diary of meals worth remembering.
Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I’m John, the solo maker behind PlateDiary.
I’ve always liked taking photos of food, but most of them eventually disappear into my camera roll. I wanted something that wasn’t about calories, macros, or posting what I ate — just a simple way to remember the meals, places, and people around the table.
That became PlateDiary.
Take one photo of the table and PlateDiary uses on-device machine learning to find each dish and drink and turn them into individual saves. They automatically come together as a moment with the place, time, and people you were with.
I built PlateDiary during Ship-a-ton, and one of my biggest goals was making food journaling feel effortless and playful rather than like another habit you have to maintain.
There’s no account required, your food-memory library stays on your device, and there’s no calorie counting or social feed.
I’d especially love feedback on the capture experience and whether PlateDiary changes the way you look at all those food photos sitting in your camera roll.
Thanks for checking it out! 🍽️
