PIXU is a fast and free, cross-platform terminal image viewer for developers. View images in RGB, grayscale, 256-color, ASCII, Kitty/iTerm2 or Sixel, with interactive browsing, clipboard input, pipelines, resizing, rotation and dithering.

Hello Internet! 👋
I built PIXU because sometimes you just want to look at an image without leaving your terminal.
PIXU is a fast and free, cross-platform terminal image viewer that supports:
RGB, grayscale and 256-color rendering
ASCII art
Kitty / iTerm2 graphics
Sixel
Interactive image browsing
Clipboard input
stdin/stdout pipelines
Resizing, rotation and dithering
It works on macOS, Linux and Windows.
You can install it with Homebrew or grab a binary from GitHub.
I’d love to hear from terminal users: what image-viewing features would make PIXU more useful in your daily workflow?
Thanks for checking it out! 🚀
